It's take-off for ComtecInt UK's mission to clothe and protect offshore wind staff

Hull-based workwear and personal protective equipment company ComtecInt UK is going for growth after securing a number of key offshore wind industry contracts.

After launching its business on the Humber north bank last year, it is making big strides towards a bright future.

The business has now moved to new offices alongside GXD Logistics in Ferries Street, Hull, strategically placed to take advantage of the North Sea and west coast wind industry, as well as European and eastern USA markets.

Director Jonathan Isaac said the business offered a full solution for marine workwear, safety clothing and equipment through its own lines and top brands.

"We are supplying some of the largest players in offshore wind and North Sea farms Triton Knoll, Westermost Rough, Lincs and Hornsea," he said.

“We have also recently reached an agreement to supply Walney and Burbo Bank wind farms in the Irish Sea.”

Mr. Isaac said that the business model was to provide a service developed specifically for the offshore wind sector with bespoke packages alongside high quality PPE and workwear.

He added that Danish parent company Comtec International was providing extra benefit to customers through access to its systems and expertise.

“Opening our offices at GXD’s site enables us to have a full range of stock in the UK enabling speedy, on-demand deliveries to customers.

"GXD’s on-site warehousing, pick & pack operation and distribution service perfectly complements our business.”

Graham Cross, managing director of GXD Logistics, said: "We are excited by Comtec’s potential. It is mutually beneficial and the arrangement will bring growth for both organisations.”

One of ComtecInt UK’s business ambitions is to grow to the size of its parent Danish business which now employs 50 staff.

It is building its presence on the Humber, including membership of Team Humber Marine Alliance, Green Port Hull, Grimsby Renewables Partnership and Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce, and also making a point of using local suppliers for services which include the Witham-based Promotion Company for printing and embroidering company logos.

Mr. Isaac added: "We are passionate about being part of the Humber and its burgeoning offshore wind industry and we want to contribute to making the region a global centre of expertise in the sector. The potential is massive."

ComtecInt UK also provides legally required six-monthly inspections for safety certificates. Its products are fully compliant with a range of safety standards such as Safety of Life at Sea and the European Technical Standards Order for offshore helicopters.
